ROUTE TO SENIORS

Little did I know that winning the 1992 Amateur Championship would have such a long lasting effect on my career as a golf professional.

Winning this event means you join a long list famous players such as Sergio Garcia, Jose Maria Olazabal and  Bobby Jones to name but a few who have also won the coveted trophy.

You get numerous invitations to play in big events, most notably to the US Masters, The British Open and The Memorial Tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus.

Winning The Amateur has opened many doors during my career and helped me get to where I am currently, which is The President of The San Roque Club in Sotogrande, Spain.

However, never did I think that 32 years after winning the event would I still be getting some benefits from the victory but that is what has happened.

I have found out that I am exempt to play in the 2024 US Seniors Open which will take place at Newport Country Club in Rhode Island. This course is one of the 5 founding clubs of The USGA

I will be competing against all the best seniors in the world including Ernie Els, Bernhard Langer, Fred Couples, Padraig Harrington and many more.

To say I am excited is a understatement but I know it is going to be a difficult test so I want to do everything I can to perform to the best of my ability.

As a result I am enlisting the help of The Jason Floyd Golf Academy which is based here at The San Roque Club.

We are going to work on every aspect of the game to get me as ready as possible to perform the best I can.

I am looking forward to the journey and hope you enjoy following me.

Yours Sincerely

Stephen Dundas
